Concept Art & Development

As a writer-illustrator, much of my creative process involves jumping back and forth between my script and my sketchbook. I would describe my development stage as my play time. I’m testing out aesthetics, references photos, my strengths and limitations, and the ins and outs of what I’ll need to include in the story’s world. I’ve found that a lot of my artistic development comes out of the weeks and months I spend re-imagining one story.

The collection below is primarily sketchbook excerpts from my graphic novel MIND THE GAP, with a couple character design sheets from my manga one-shot MORNINGSTAR.
